About

As a photographer for over 30 years, I love seeing the world through a lens. It is something I am driven to do and so I am constantly searching for rich subject matter that can satisfy this overwhelming passion. I wander the countryside and the coast around my home town of Hastings and have explored Romney Marsh a great deal, it has a uniquley haunting beauty beneath the largest of skies.

Landscapes – specifically shapes set within a landscape – seem to be my favourite. Like Monet with his haystacks or waterlilies, I return to familiar places in different seasons, different light and conditions, and look at it all afresh.

Large outdoor events also interest me. The crowds, movement and spectacle are another type of photography and trying to capture the atmosphere and render it in two dimensions presents a special challenge.

Sometimes, to look at some subject for long enough and closely enough reveals an abstract view. Natural objects are particularly fascinating and in its purest state my photography becomes abstract, recognisable shapes and textures that can also be enjoyed as pure patterns of light.
